Buddiez Bronx Cannabis Dispensary Review: A Deep Menu Near The Hub

Buddiez Bronx Cannabis Dispensary opened on Oct. 16, 2025, at 2935 Third Ave, between East 152nd and 153rd streets in Melrose, about three blocks north of The Hub. Nearly a year in, it has a deep menu and a stack of near-perfect online ratings. It also has a few gaps worth knowing about before you go.

The scorecard

License and compliance: 5.0

This is the easy one. Buddiez holds license OCM-CAURD-25-000297, issued Sept. 26, 2025, state licensing records show. CAURD is the Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary license, the state's equity track for people with past cannabis convictions and their families. The licensed entity is Storytellers New York, LLC, which describes itself as a vertical cannabis brand run by NYC-born founders with a female- and minority-led advisory board.

One note for the record: the owners are not publicly named. State data lists only a primary contact, so we do not name anyone here. That does not affect compliance, but shoppers who like to know who is behind the counter should know it is not public.

Menu depth: 4.8

The online menu covers ten categories: flower, pre-rolls, edibles, vaporizers, concentrates, tinctures, topicals, CBD, beverages and accessories. The store lists 151 brands, including its own house label.

• Hardware and papers: Puffco, Pax and Raw.

The mix matters. Topicals, tinctures and beverages give non-smokers real options, and a real bench of New York-grown brands means you are not stuck choosing between the same three national vape carts. The half-point deduction: a long brand list is not a guarantee that a specific product is in stock today. Value and deals: 4.5

We do not score shelf prices, which change daily; we score the deal structure a store publishes. Here it is solid. There is a standing specials page and a first-time customer discount. The Buddiez Bronx Cannabis Dispensary loyalty program, pitched as "Love joints? Get points," runs on points, and the store offers veteran and UFCW union discounts.

Context helps. Per-unit cannabis prices in New York fell about 7 percent from January to June 2026, according to the Office of Cannabis Management's July data, as hundreds of new stores and a bigger licensed harvest pushed shelf prices down. In a falling-price market, stacking a first-time discount with loyalty points is how you actually feel it at the register. Our August price report has more. Getting there

• Subway: Take the 2 or 5 to 3 Av-149 St at The Hub, then walk about three blocks north on Third Avenue.
• Bus: The Bx15 runs on Third Avenue past the store. The Hub is also served by the Bx2, Bx4, Bx19, Bx21, Bx32 and Bx41 Select Bus Service.
• Rail: The Melrose Metro-North station at 162nd Street and Park Avenue is nearby.
• From the ballpark: The Yankee Stadium area is about a mile away.

Hours

You can order ahead online for in-store pickup, and the store offers curbside and express pickup. Payment is cash or cashless ATM, debit works at the counter and there is an ATM on site. The store is ADA accessible. There is also a Bx Buddiez iOS app for ordering ahead.

Two deductions. First, the 8 p.m. close (7 p.m. Sunday) is early compared with some Bronx stores; My Bud 420 in Van Nest lists hours to 1 a.m. Second, delivery: it is available in parts of NYC, but the store's own site does not spell out delivery zones or terms. Customer sentiment: 4.7

The ratings are about as good as they get. Customer reviews online are overwhelmingly positive (near five stars across hundreds of reviews), and the same themes come up again and again:

• Staff: Friendly, knowledgeable budtenders.
• Speed: Fast pickups.
• Selection and prices: A wide menu, with prices that customers single out for praise.
• The store itself: Clean and well kept.

The app tells the same story: its iOS app is rated 5.0. Why not a perfect score? Time. The store has been open less than a year, and a longer track record, through price swings and staff turnover, is what separates a hot opening from a dependable shop. A deep menu and a CAURD license are on the record; the community promises still need receipts.

Community: 4.2

This is the lowest score, and the reason is documentation rather than any red flag. The store holds an equity license in a borough where 74 percent of licensed dispensaries are CAURD stores, the highest share in the city. Its About page lists a mission of education, integrity and community impact, and cites local hiring and social equity initiatives. Its tagline calls the shop "created for the Bronx by the Bronx."

What is not yet public: numbers on local hires, named community partners or dollar figures for giving. That is not unusual. At its August meeting, the Cannabis Control Board gave stores a grace period on community impact plans until their first license renewal. But specifics are what move a score, and we will revisit when they are public.

Who Buddiez is best for

• Hub commuters and Melrose and Mott Haven residents who want a licensed stop a short walk from the 2 and 5.
• Brand hunters, especially shoppers looking for New York-grown labels alongside national names.
• Planners who order ahead and grab it at pickup.
• Deal stackers: first-timers, veterans, union members and loyalty-point collectors.
