Bronx Weed Delivery Guide: Which Licensed Stores Deliver and How to Order Legally

Weed delivery is legal in New York. The catch is that only one kind is: delivery from a state-licensed dispensary, carried by that dispensary's own employee, to a private address, during the store's business hours. Everything else, including the menu that pops up in your Instagram DMs and the number a coworker swears by, is the unlicensed market.

In the Bronx, where there are 23 licensed stores for about 1.4 million people, delivery does real work. If you live in Soundview, Highbridge or City Island, there is no licensed storefront with an address in your neighborhood, state licensing records show. A legal driver can close that gap. Here is how to find one, what the rules are and how to spot the fakes.

The rules: what legal delivery looks like

The Office of Cannabis Management spells out the basics in its consumer delivery FAQ. Legal delivery in New York means:

1. A licensed store's own staff. Only employees of licensed retailers can deliver. No independent couriers and no gig drivers.
2. During store hours. Deliveries can only happen while the dispensary is open, so a store that closes at 8 p.m. cannot legally drop off at midnight.
3. ID at the door. You must be 21 or older, and the driver checks your photo ID at delivery.
4. A name on the receipt. The driver's name appears on your receipt.
5. Purchase limits. Up to 3 ounces of flower or 24 grams of concentrate per delivery, per day.
6. Private addresses only. Homes and private businesses are fine. Parks, public buildings, schools, daycares, houses of worship and vehicles are not. That means no meeting the driver at Crotona Park or in your car outside the building.

These licensed Bronx dispensaries offer delivery. Zones, minimums and hours change, sometimes month to month, so treat this as a map of who delivers, not a guarantee they reach your block. Confirm your address at checkout every time.

Matching a store to your neighborhood

• North Bronx: SESH offers same-day service with the latest hours on this list, and Two Buds in Wakefield delivers too.
• East Bronx: Hush and Smoking Scholars, both in Allerton, offer delivery, as does Hibernica.
• West and Central Bronx: Bleu Leaf on Jerome Avenue and Guardian Wellness on Arthur Avenue.
• South Bronx: Buddiez, which sponsors the Free Press, delivers to parts of NYC; confirm your address and minimum at checkout. Borough-wide services are the other option.

How to verify a delivery service before you pay

A slick website proves nothing. Before you hand over money, run three checks:

• Find the storefront. Every legal delivery comes from a physical licensed dispensary. Look up the business name and address on OCM's Dispensary Location Verification page. If there is no storefront, it is not legal delivery.
• Check the package. Legal products carry New York's universal cannabis symbol and a QR code that links to lab results.
• Check the handoff. A legal driver checks your ID, and the driver's name is on your receipt.

If there is no licensed storefront behind the delivery, it is not legal delivery, no matter how good the menu looks.

Red flags of illegal delivery

These are not official OCM criteria, just common sense from the rules above. Walk away if you see any of them:

• No license number and no storefront address you can look up.
• Nobody checks your ID.
• Prices far below what licensed stores charge.
• No lab results or certificate of analysis.
• A menu that lives only on social media or a messaging app.
• Unmarked or generic packaging.
• An offer to meet you in a park, on a corner or in a car.

Why it matters: the illegal supply chain in the Bronx is not a guy with a backpack. In May, the Sheriff's joint task force and federal agents raided Bud-Zotic in Mott Haven for a third time, pulling more than 500 pounds from the store and 300-plus pounds from a van, all of it untested, and making two arrests. ID, limits and tax: what to expect at the door

ID

Have a valid government photo ID ready. The driver has to see it, and it has to say you are 21 or older.

Limits

You can receive up to 3 ounces of flower or 24 grams of concentrate per delivery, per day. That matches what adults can carry in public.

Tax

Expect 13 percent at checkout: 9 percent state plus 4 percent local. A THC-based wholesale tax is already built into the shelf price, so the menu price plus 13 percent is roughly what you will pay, before any delivery minimum or fee. Tipping: a courtesy, not a rule

OCM's consumer FAQ sets the rules for who delivers and where; it does not tell you what to tip. Treat it like any other delivery. If the checkout offers a tip line, that is the simplest route. If not, a few dollars in cash is a reasonable thank-you for a driver who climbed four flights in a walk-up, and bad weather or a long ride from Pelham Bay to Kingsbridge earns a little more. What you should never do is ask a driver to skip the ID check or bend the limits. It is their job on the line.

The fast alternative: order ahead and pick up

If you are near a store, pickup often beats the delivery window, and it skips the minimums. Many licensed stores take online orders for in-store pickup; check each store's site. If you are passing through The Hub, you can order ahead for pickup in the South Bronx at Buddiez on Third Avenue, three blocks from the 2 and 5.
